Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 12pm to 5pm in Astoria Park.

Astoria Crafty Knitty (ACK) & Steinway Astoria Craft Crochet & Knit (SACK) are hosting an event for World Wide Knitting in Public (WWKiP) Day, the Astoria KiP. The group will be meeting on the lawn area near 23rd Ave and 19th St, and will be easily located after walking into the park at 23rd Ave.

Please join us to knit, crochet or craft in the park! To make it an extra fun day outdoors, we’re planning some special events!

There will Knitting or Crochet instruction available throughout the day! Newcomers are welcomed to join and learn a new craft.

**SHOW & TELL 12:30pm**

Meet the event participants and see some of their favorite finished objects,or just check out other people’s work! Bring your own favorite objects to share!

**Workshop: Working with Plastic 2:00pm**
Rosemary Cabanillas will teach you how to make yarn out of your plastic shopping bags and start you on a knit or crochet market bag! Think Green! Think DIY!

**Astoria Knit and Crochet Quiz 4:00pm**

Use your knowledge of Astoria, knitting, or crochet to win prizes! Yarny Prizes.

To get there via mass transit: Take the N/W to Ditmars Ave. Walk away from the elevated train (Ditmars is the last stop) and cath the Q69 to 21st St and take it to 23rd Ave. Walk over to 19th Street, and you are there!

You can also walk from the train stop. Walk south to 23rd Ave. It's one block south of Ditmars. Just walk 23rd Ave until the park. It's about a 10 block route.

Take Grand Central Parkway West
to Exit 45 / 31st Street (also, it's the last exit before the toll for the Triborough Bridge)
As you exit, bear towards the right and go straight (you'll see the Neptune Diner on your right)
Continue straight on Hoyt Avenue
Take Hoyt Avenue to 21st Street
Make a Right on 21st Street
Take 21st Street to 23rd Avenue
Make a Left on 23rd Avenue

IN CASE OF RAIN: We will be hosting the event at the Free Peach Cafe instead. The cafe is on 29th ST, right off Ditmars Avenue, close to the subway. Please check this space for an announcement that morning if it looks like rain. :-)
